time for an upgrade

The Daily Sales Rep had a great ride, but it’s time for an upgrade.

Welcome to Why It Works - a weekly newsletter that includes a systematic breakdown of sales & marketing used by leaders across various industries.

Because as salespeople, it’s time for all of us to take it to the next level.

How?

By adopting a marketing mindset.

We’re officially in an era where the lines between sales and marketing are completely blurred.

If you haven’t noticed, the people and organizations who perform best are those with the best content. And those with the best content are industry and domain experts who can share a unique POV on a relevant platform, Linkedin for example.

This means salespeople need to become experts of their field and product, improve writing skills, and view content creation as the new form of outbound outreach.

It’s time to stop chasing and start attracting. I’m here to help you do just do that.

That said, The Daily Sales Rep has officially been sunset.

The new name/brand for your weekly newsletter is “Why it Works” and here’s what you can expect:

  1. Systematic breakdowns of certain sales & marketing tactics

  2. Complete review of why they work

  3. Actionable steps to help you implement these tactics into your day job

If you’re a salesperson or business owner that hasn’t invested much in content creation or general marketing, now is your time to strike.

It’s incredibly cheap and the potential upside is enormous. Much, much higher than cold outreach.

Here’s a personal example:

Three weeks ago I posted this on Linkedin. I have about 4,500 followers - not much.

The post garnered a few thousand impressions and 29 reactions - also not very much.

But, there was one person who liked it enough to reach out directly. We scheduled a 30-minute networking call and by the end of the conversation, I had a $25k consulting opportunity with a $50M company.

Moral of the story: you don’t need a large audience to generate real momentum for yourself or your company. You just need the right people to see it.

Moving forward, I’ll be sharing as much as I can about my own journey in building a brand, highlighting others, and sharing real-time tactics that are working for sales & marketing leaders across various industries.
