Work Smarter, Not Harder

Cliches are cliches for a reason, right?

Don’t act busy, be productive.

Here’s what I mean ⬇️

You have an unrealistic quota. It’s not your fault. Because you have an unrealistic quota, you feel like you have to do as much as you possibly can to hit your numbers. Ultimately, those high dial requirements and astronomical meeting goals drive the wrong behaviors.

Behaviors like; adding a ton of new non-targeted contacts to your CRM, connecting with everyone one of those contacts on Linkedin, and then sending out a 700-person email blast, hoping just one of them sticks.

Next time, try this:

  1. Pick 5 Contacts from your biggest account

  2. Spend 5 minutes researching the company (earnings reports, Linkedin company page, news presses, etc.)

  3. Spend 5 minutes learning about the contacts you selected (college, career progression, volunteerism, certifications, endorsements, recommendations, etc.)

  4. Connect on Linkedin

  5. Craft and send a wildly personalized email

Repeat this every day for 1 month. I promise you, the results will be far better than high-volume, non-value added outreach.

Besides, when you take the time to craft thoughtful and personalized outreach, you will feel more fulfilled with your work. Which is the most important piece to all of this.

Slow down, enjoy your work, get smart, and be productive.
